2008 StormFest Symposium Registration

This upcoming spring (2008), our program and chapter will be hosting our first ever three-day Meteorology Symposium which has been named “StormFest” and will take place at the Carnegie Science Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Students and professionals in the field of meteorology will gather for an open conference on 1 March 2008 discussing topics related to severe, winter, and tropical weather. Also included in this conference is a student research competition where we will ask our featured speakers to help judge the student research presentations. Our featured speakers  include: Jaime Rhome NOAA/National Hurricane Center, Robert Hamilton- Meteorologist NOAA/NWS Buffalo, NY and Dr. Greg Forbes- Severe Weather Expert of the Weather Channel, and one speaker yet to be announced.

Furthermore, we invite all students interested to apply to be a presenter at our conference and partake in the student research competition in which $100 will be awarded to one undergraduate and one graduate, judged by our keynote speakers, to have the best research.  Applications for student presenters are being accepted via our webpage
and notifications of acceptance will be sent out once the application process has ended. Accepted as a presenter or not, ALL students from the program are welcome to attend this sure to be enriching day of events. Moreover, students who are not presenting may present their research in the form of a poster during the event. We are in the midst of arranging all of the specifics for this first time addition to our program’s agenda.  Any questions or comments may be directed towards event coordinator Jonathan Jennings at jen2369@cup.edu.
