The California University of Pennslyvania Storm Chase began on Tuesday, May 16, 2006, and will run through Friday, May 26, 2006. Ten students and Dr. Mitchem set out on this two-week storm-chase through the Great Plains of the United States. This field course provides the student with opportunities to study meteorological, and especially severe weather phenomena and characteristics, on site. Students will learn to apply the scientific method, and to acquire critical thinking skills by examining atmospheric features and processes associated with severe weather development.
