Mr. Brian Persons is currently the Executive Director for the Naval Systems Engineering Directorate (SEA 05) and Chief Technology Officer for the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA). Mr. Persons is the Senior Civilian Chief Engineer responsible for implementing technical authority for all research, development, technology transition, design, engineering and certification efforts for surface ships, submarines and aircraft carriers and their sub-systems of the United States Navy. Mr. Persons is also NAVSEA’s Research and Systems Engineering Competency Domain leader responsible for developing and maintaining standards, processes, policies, workload forecasting and career management guidance for national workforce of over 20,000 scientists and engineers. Mr. Persons holds a BS degree in Engineering from Michigan State University and an MS degree in Technology Management from the University of Maryland. He will be speaking on new technology used by the Navy such as, phased array radars, GPS, and other technology not available outside of the military through 2025. He will discuss the use of meteorological data and its effect on naval ship design, reasons for particular direction in research and development of these technologies. Finally, he will convey the opportunities and job prospects within the navy. |
