The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People, first published in 1989, is a self-help book written by Stephen R. Covey. It has sold over 15 million copies in 38 languages since first publication, which was marked by the release of a 15th anniversary edition in 2004. The book lists seven principles that, if established as habits, are supposed to help a person achieve true interdependent effectiveness. Covey argues this is achieved by aligning oneself to what he calls "true north" principles of a character ethic that he believes to be universal and timeless. The book was enormously popular and it stemmed into a Leadership training workshop. This workshop is offered at California University to its students at no cost. Dealing Steven Covey’s Book “The Speed of Trust” students will have the chance to learn basics of the Speed of Trust Philosophy from Dr. Stephen Covey. Covey believes “trust is a hard edged economic driver because it always addresses speed and cost.” When trust decreases, speed decreases, and costs rise. Covey also believes that trust is a key leadership competency in the new economy. This session will highlight the importance of trust in your organization and how this program is implemented at California University.

This session will teach participants how to lead simple and inexpensive team-building exercises for their members by actually participating in these activities during the session. Participants will walk away with actual handouts to use in order to lead these activities, which will also include discussion points regarding various topics such as team conflict, team communication, and giving and receiving constructive feedback.

Participants will learn the basics of the Path Elements Profile (PEP), which is a simple personality profile that leaders can use in order to better lead their team members by understanding and better managing their various personality styles. Each institution participating will receive the book, "The Four Elements of Success : A Simple Personality Profile that Will Transform Your Team" by Laurie Beth Jones, which can be used as a resource back on your own campus.
