GUEST SPEAKER 1. Activities Committee: Attendance at sporting events and activities is not too good and to speak on such issues is Dr. T. Pucci from Athletics. Dr. Pucci: "we have 7 womenÕs sports... menÕs football has bus service to games, itÕs not very well used but will continue." We try to advertise "postings at the information desk and the table tents... all students are welcome to come for free, it is from your student feeÕs." "If you have any new ideaÕs you can see Lamont Coleman he is the activities director, you can forward them to him." Question - Public Relations Director Konrad - "IÕve heard some rumors if there isnÕt a winning season coach K will be leaving...?" Answer - Dr. Pucci - "No, he will be here next year either way." Question - Senator Gehly - "Why is hockey not funded under Athletics?" Answer - Dr. Pucci - "ItÕs the same situation as wrestling it all boils down to equity... if we were to add a sport it would be hockey... we are having problems funding sports we have.. in the early 90Õs we had a 628,000 dollar budget this year we have a 335,000 dollar budget. I feel hockey is better funded now by SAI than if they were under Athletics" Question - Corresponding Secretary Holbrook - "Is it possible for club sports to use happier facilities?" Answer - Dr. Pucci - "Yes, but it is already booked from noon until midnight... but yes it is possible." Question - Advisor Eagle - When can we see tail gating like Penn State? In the future? Answer - Dr. Pucci - "I plead the fifth like dante... but that is an administrative decision related to school spirit... thatÕs not in my department." 2. Social Equity Committee: Our goal is to promote social equity and show students and faculty that we may have some differences but we have more in common... and show this through campus resources available to us at Cal U. Guest Speaker Lenora Angelone: "We are more the same than different... but people tend to only see the differences... IÕd like to now have an open forum for discussion to break down barriers through a group exchange of ideas, personal experiences, and stereotypes... A general exchange of experiences." Public Relations Director Konrad - "one stereotypical thing I see is there are too many hilbilly wanna be gangstars pimpin around wal-mart, in sup-ed up fords which is a sign because they only imitate what they see on MTV." Guest Speaker Angelone - "If I drove around Wal-mart with my stereo up would I be someone in this stereotype?" Senator - "One stereotype I see is thinking that all black students play sports... all polish people are stupid... jews only worry about money and all the Greeks do is drink." Senator Johnson - "BSU even changed itÕs motto to Building Student Unity" Senator Lokay - "Just because I go to cal IÕm stereotyped as doing nothing but partying and I donÕt... I mean IÕve been called the white devil before. Public Relations Director Konrad - "I donÕt need 4 heifenations before my name to define who I am." Financial Secretary Littlehale - "...Just like me for who I am..." ********Lenora Angelone has by far shown the best example on the use of props in any student government meeting ever with her distruction of Audio Storage Aids.********************** XV.
