The Scrabble Club was created in October of 2004. The original
idea and conception to create the club was Ryan Nauman's. At first,
starting with only a few friends and hopes of a large club on this campus
the 'club' began to follow the neccesary steps leading to formal recognition.
After the club's approval the club has gained and lost many members
in a short period of time. The club's future looks great as long as
the Scrabble aficionados are out there.

I. Name of organization: Scrabble Club
II. Purpose of organization: To provide amusement while simultaneously
incorporating anagram, math, reasoning, and vocabulary skills.
III. Membership: New inductees will be subject to approval by the Scrabble
Guru (President) and The Duke (Vice President). Any and every person
is welcome to join regardless of race, sex, physical appearance, etc.
Members must be active, attending at least one meeting per month. If
that month is passed without activity members will be placed on an inactivity
list in which they will stay until a) They become active again –or-
b) 2 months of further inactivity passes and they are removed. Once
removed you must go through the approval process once again. Membership
will require only general information about the player (i.e.: name,
age, status at college, why they want to join, and phone number.)
IV. Officers: The Scrabble Guru (President) will be responsible for
organizing any possible trips and overseeing that the club as a whole
runs smoothly. Also, The Scrabble Guru has power to remove anyone (Officer,
or member) from their position at any time. The Duke (Vice President)
is required to organize the meetings in case they should be changed
and make sure that the meetings run appropriately. There will be a Mediator
(Co-Vice President) in order to help with decisions up to the President
and Vice President if there were a dispute for some reason. Furthermore,
the Mediator will be responsible for any general duties that another
office may not be listed as doing (Getting refreshments, snacks?, etc.).
The Moneymaker (Treasurer) will be accountable for organizing fund raising
events and keeping a steady eye on the clubs funds. Although, it is
up to the Scrabble Guru and The Duke to decide where those funds that
are accountable for go towards. The Butch (Secretary) will be responsible
for taking attendance at the meetings as well as controlling the member
list.
All officers must show a desire to hold the position and attend all
meetings unless class, extracurricular activity, or emergency interferes.
V. Meetings: Meetings will be held weekly on Wednesday nights at 8:00pm
until so desired. This time and day is subject to change depending on
availability from the majority of members. Until funding and a regular
location is assigned meetings will take place in Building A’s
2nd floor lounge.
VI. Quorum: At least 6 members must be present during meetings in order
to operate.
VII. Advisor: The duties of the advisor are simple. They must attempt
to learn the names of members, attend any meetings as much as possible,
give insight to officers when questions arise, and general help and
support with the group. Either the Scrabble Guru or the Duke will be
in charge of locating a faculty member here at the university in order
to be the advisor. Advisor will be removed if he or she loses interest,
leaves the university, or if complications/disputes arise. Scrabble
Guru and Duke will decide whether or not to let an advisor go.
VIII. Amendments: Require two-thirds vote of total active members in
order to pass. Approved amendments must be submitted to student congress
for approval.
IX. Bylaws: Bylaws will be in place if necessary and it is noted that
they will be recognized but as of this time none exist. Bylaws will
be subject to a one-half vote of active members along with consent from
Scrabble Guru.
