I just need to talk to someone...
Cal U employees who display the Safe Zone emblem welcome students and other employees who want to talk with someone about sexual identity. Whatever your concerns, Safe Zone members are ready to listen and answer basic questions.

I'd just like to know that there are people at Cal who have a clue about being gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgendered...
Safe Zone members are not necessarily gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgendered (GLBT), but whatever our own sexual identities may be, we have committed ourselves to paying attention to issues of sexual identity and have taken the time to learn about resources for GLBTÊpeople.

IÊwish I knew someone I could trust to keep a confidence...
Safe Zone members aren't counselors or sexual identity experts, but they are happy to listen and make referrals when useful. They have agreed to hold anything you tell them in confidence unless that would be immediately harmful to you or others.

I'm comfortable with who I am. I need local resources for gays, lesbians, bisexuals, or transgendered people...
Safe Zone members are aware of resources for gays, lesbians, bisexuals, and transgendered people on campus, in Southwest Pennsylvania, and beyond.

I'm not gay, but I'm getting tired of people acting as if I am...
Safe Zone members welcome conversation about any issues concerning sexual identity, including other people's mistaken ideas about you. Some of these judgements are based on appearance, some one behavior. If you feel these stereotypes are putting you in a box, you may want to talk with a Safe Zone member.

I'm attracted to the other sex for sure, but I don't feel like I belong in this body...
For some people, sexual identity issues may include feelings about being stuck in a body belonging to the wrong sex. If that is true for you, Safe Zone members will be glad to listen and point you to some resources.

I just need to know there are people who understand...
Whether you ever use our services or not, we hope that seeing the Safe Zone emblem around campus will remind you that a network of caring people exist on the Cal U campus.
