Get Involved!
There are many ways to get involved in SAB. It starts with coming to our
general membership meetings that are held at 4 pm on Thursday in Natali
206/207 every week. We hope you would volunteer to help out with an event
here and there and give your input to our planning. We would also like to
see you at our committee meetings.
If you cannot make the general meetings but still want to be involved you
can come to the committee meetings. The committees and meeting times for
Fall 2007 are:
Concerts
Special Events
Recreation
Lecture
Cultural
Weekend
Films
If this still doesn't work for you, contact us and we will keep you in the
loop.
Once established in SAB you can be a part of the executive committee, a
committee chairperson, or just chair and event.
How To Chair An Event
Starting 2-3 Weeks Before the Event
Decide on the forms of publicity that will be used. Examples: flyers, table tent, posters (sometimes supplied by the act)
If needed, generate publicity materials:
Go to the SAI Webteam
If there is a video, get it to CUTV and see if they can put it in the newscast
Get information to the Cal Times, especially if there is a picture
If no material is provided, it can sometimes be created on a computer
Create a banner (used mostly for larger events, like big-name acts or larger novelties)
Get a mass email sent out
Designate areas where posters should go, if they were already provided, fill out the necessary information.
1-2 Days Before the Event
Put reminder notices on posters/flyers or put up new posters/flyers with the reminder on it.
Send out a reminder mass email.
Contact artist representitive to confirm hotel, directions, load in/out needs, and location of event
Confirm responsibilities with SAB advisors such as transportation, payment, room set-up, etc.
Day of the Event
Arrive in time to meet the artist/group
Inform the artist if there are any special announcements that they should mention
