Mission & Goals


The mission of the OSD is to insure the availability of reasonable accommodations.

The goals of OSD are to:

* Comply with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act.
* Provide reasonable accommodations to insure equal access to university programs and services.
* Support the university in providing and enhancing learning opportunities for a diverse population.

Philosophy

The philosophy of the Office for Students with Disabilities maintains that a responsible partnership between the university and its students with disabilities will facilitate the prospects for academic success.

The university is committed to its responsibility to insure access and participation for otherwise qualified students with disabilities.Students with disabilities are responsible for bringing appropriate levels of academic skills, interest, initiative and self-advocacy to the partnership.
