Kappa Delta Pi Meeting Minutes from September 9, 2008

 

I want to start out by saying that us officers were very pleased with the turn out today. We had 45 people in attendance today and that's wonderful! I'm very excited for this semester!!

 

á    Jenn opened up the meeting by welcoming everyone to Kappa Delta Pi and going over the requirements real quick so that if anyone didn't qualify they wouldn't have to sit through the whole meeting.

á    An attendance sheet was passed around. Some people did not sign in, but I did have your member information sheet. At the next meeting please be sure to sign in otherwise we will not have it documented that you attended the meeting. Along with this, some people did not fill out the member information sheet but signed in. Even if you are a returning member we need you to fill out a new member information sheet so please be sure to do that at the next meetings.

á    The officers were introduced and so was our advisor Dr. Peterson who could not be there today due to a faculty meeting.

Jenn informed the group about KDP and explained changes that have taken place for this semester. Those student teaching need to be aware that one of the changes made is that in order to be an active member while student teaching you need to participate in at least one service project, if you can't make it back to do a service project with the group then you can submit a proposal to have another service project count - the project needs to be pre-approved in order to count. New initiates, especially those planning to student teach in the spring were upset with the fact that their points do not start to accumulate until after they are imitated. Jenn will talk to Dr. Peterson to see if once new members have met the requirements for initiation if they can start to accumulate points.

á    Calendars were handed out with tentative dates for socials along with when our highway cleanups and meetings will be.

á    The service proposal sheets were also changed to a different format this semester. Please remember to fill those out after every activity that you participate in that you plan to get credit for. It's very crucial that you turn those in so that I can record your attendance.

á    The committee's were described and members/initiates signed up for the committee that they wanted to serve on.

á    Voted Morgan Banks in as treasurer because Karly will be unable to fulfill her duties this semester.

á    Organizational Fair sign-ups were held.

The next meeting is Tuesday, September 23, 2008 @ 11 am.
