Office of the Nurse Practitioner
Fran Fayish is the Nurse Practitioner/Educator at California University of Pennsylvania. She is the advisor to H.E.A.R.T. (Health Education Awareness Resource Team). The office currently employs 5 students (both work-studies and graduate assistants). Some of the major services offered by the Office of the Nurse Practitioner include:
- Drug and alcohol programming (2-3 events per month)
- Nutritionist visits (several times per year)
- One-on-one meetings with sick students
- Other semesterly activities/events
Wellness Education Room
The Office of the Nurse Practitioner provides the Wellness Education Room, which houses the Educational Materials Library. It includes the following resources:
- videos
- pamphlets
- body fat machines
- books
The Wellness Education Room is open to all students, faculty and staff. Some materials may be available for lending. Please contact Fran for more details.
PA SWAT (Students Working Against Tobacco)
Fran facilitates PA SWAT, working with the students on smoking cessation projects. Here are some examples of their activities:
- Removed cigarettes from C-Store (now called Flatz)
- Great American Smokeout (GASO) - Held during the week of November 20
- Kick Butts Day
