Welcome to the California University Family! I hope that both you and your student will enjoy the Cal U experience.

We have been educating students for 150 years, and one of our strong points is our caring and concern for each person. At Cal U, students are not numbers on a roster; they are individuals.

I encourage you and the rest of your family to participate in what has become one of the high points of the fall semester -- Family Day. There is truly something for everyone on that day's busy schedule.

From youngsters to adults, from students to grandparents, everyone will enjoy the host of activities that are planned for Saturday, October 2.

Family day is an opportunity to see where your student spends a lot of his or her time. You can visit places around campus, and even listen to a discussion or two that focuses on parents.

After a full day of fun and activities, you deserve a rest and a relaxing meal. I cordially invite you and your family to have dinner with my wife Barbara and me in the Performance Center.

Family Day ends with the traditional football game that pits our Cal U Vulcans against Clarion. The game, which will be held under the lights at Adamson Stadium at 6 p.m. is the perfect ending to Family Day.

I look forward to seeing you and your family on this special occasion.
