Tryouts

Registration will start promptly at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 12, 2008.
Practice will begin at 9:00 a.m. in Hamer Gymnasium. Tryouts will be held Sunday, April 13, 2008 (time to be announced)

Requirements for Tryouts

Participants will be taught a 30 second dance routine, a chant and a cheer. Everyone will be required to do a toe touch, a hurdler and a herkie. All participants will also be judged on their stunting ability. 
Minimum requirement for flyers will be to consistently hit a liberty.
Tumbling is not required but is strongly preferred.

Games

The 2008-2009 squad will be required to cheer at all home football games and some away games.  Travelling will be required.  (Football games are typically on Saturday afternoons.)   The girls also cheer for home women’s and men’s basketball games.  Some travelling may also be required during basketball season. (The schedule varies but games are usually on Wednesday and Saturday nights.)   At times, the squad will be required to cheer for women’s volleyball.

Practices

Practice is usually held twice a week from 9:00 – 11:00 p.m.  However, the schedule is subject to change depending on gym availability.

Other Requirements

In order to try out for the 2008-2009 squad you must be accepted for admission to the University.   All cheerleaders are required to maintain at least a 2.0 GPA.

All squad members are required to participate in a weight/strengthening program.

This program requires that the girls be in the fitness center at least one (1) day per week. All members of the squad are also required to participate in a study group which meets in the Library one (1) night per week.
