UPDATE: No parking on boro streets, some university parking lots

As the second round of winter weather in a week rolls through California, borough officials and California University of Pennsylvania are asking residents and students to keep their cars off streets and out of parking lots.

Vice President of University Relations Angela Burrows said the unversity physical plant asks students to keep their cars out of the parking lots behind Residence Halls A, B and C until the lots are cleared following the Wednesday snow.

Cars being asked to remain out of the lots to “expedite” the clearing process. Students may park their cars in the river lot.

Parking also remains an issue on borough streets. California Mayor Casey Durdines encourages residents and students to keep their vehicles off the streets through this next round of snow to make the clean-up process run more smoothly.

Students living in town are urged to also park their cars in the river lot, Burrows said.

“While the main arteries have been cleared, many of the side streets are barely one lane,” Burrows said.  “With additional snow coming [the streets] need to keep the streets cleared for safety reasons.”

Vehicles should remain parking in the river lots until Friday.

Earlier Tuesday, Durdines advised against travel in the borough once the new snow started falling. By staying off the streets for travel and parking, borough crews will be able to clear streets in a more timely manner.
