Sports Bring A Unique Vitality And Spirit To Campus!

Since its early days, California University has placed great emphasis on the general education of the student and the need to educate the whole person. Sports, once played on the grasses and fields on and off campus, grew into one of the most aggressive and successful athletic programs of the 14-school Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference.

Sports help to create the exciting spirit of the university. Nothing raises the emotions more than hearing the "Alma Mater" (written by alumnus Phillip Rossi '37) played by the marching band at a university game. And, nothing enhances the total educational experience more than the lessons learned in the locker rooms and dorms. No memories remain as profound as those formed by the camaraderie and friendships created on the field, in the pool or on the court.

Used as an important recruitment tool, this year approximately 300 student-athletes will take part in one of Cal U's varsity teams. Throughout our history, over 4,000 student-athletes have honored us on our fields and in the stadiums and pools in the name of California University. Their strength, courage and talents have given us genuine opportunity for pride and encouragement. However, many would not have been able to attend college without the support of substantial scholarship dollars awarded to deserving student-athletes at California University. (more...)
